This digistration represents the central theme of my essay: "This new style and the Web 2.0 relate directly and symbiotically to one another: the Web 2.0 contributes to the innovation and effectiveness of this new style, and this new style contributes to the increase in quality and acceptance of user-generated content submitted on the web."
It was created using Adobe Illustrator. Some of the tools and techniques used include text, pathfinder, pen tool, brush, glowing edge effect, fills and gradients, among many others. The word "pro-am" (professional amateurism) is the central idea of my essay, so the word is illustrated with meaning. The dash in "pro-am" is illustrated with arrows like a two-way traffic sign to symbolize how they "relate directly and symbiotically to one another." "Pro" is typed in a sleek font while "Am" is typed in a young handwriting font. Additionally, "pro" is illustrated with the business attire of a tie and a TV--because professional commercials are displayed on TV. Conversely, "am" is illustrated with a webcam--because amateurs use webcams to produce user-generated content on the Web 2.0. Finally, the ink splats making up the background represent the controversy in our readings regarding whether or not the Web 2.0 is causing a lower standard of artistic quality.
